Last updated: October 2026. Draft for trustee review.
Who we are
Muslim Family Aid is a UK registered charity (no. 1199274), based at 98 Barclay Road, London, N18 1EQ. We are the data controller for the personal information described here. Contact us at admin@muslimfamilyaid.org or +44 7808 067006.
What we collect
- Details you give us when you donate, join as a member, volunteer or contact us: name, email, phone, postal address and (if you choose Gift Aid) a Gift Aid declaration.
- Payment records. Card payments are handled by our payment providers, such as Stripe and PayPal. We do not see or store your full card details.
- Basic website data such as pages visited, device and browser type, collected through cookies and similar technologies.
How we use it
- To process donations and memberships and send receipts.
- To claim Gift Aid from HMRC where you have made a valid declaration.
- To reply to your messages and organise volunteering.
- To send updates about our work if you have agreed to receive them. You can opt out at any time.
- To meet our legal and financial record-keeping duties.
Our legal basis
We rely on contract (processing your donation or membership), legal obligation (financial records and Gift Aid), consent (marketing updates and non-essential cookies) and legitimate interests (running and protecting the charity and website).
Sharing your information
We do not sell your data. We share it only with providers who help us run the charity, such as payment processors, our website host and email service, and with HMRC for Gift Aid. These providers act on our instructions.
How long we keep it
We keep financial and Gift Aid records for as long as the law requires, usually at least six years. Other information is kept only as long as needed for the purpose it was collected.
Your rights
Under UK data protection law you can ask to see, correct or delete your personal information, object to or restrict how we use it, and withdraw consent at any time. To exercise these rights, contact us using the details above. You can also complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office at ico.org.uk.
Cookies
Our website uses essential cookies and, where you allow it, analytics cookies. You can change your browser settings to refuse cookies.
Changes
We may update this policy from time to time. The latest version will always be on this page.
